Our cooperation partners

Service learning is always a collaborative effort – between students, faculty, researchers and experts who show a professional or civic interest in social issues and challenges.

Furthermore, service learning at MLU is dependent on the cooperation and exchange with people and organizations inside and outside of the university system, which accompany, inspire, and support service learning and thus make it possible to begin with.

The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – German Academic Exchange Service) has been supporting International Engagiert Studiert as part of PROFIN (Program for the Advancement of foreign students). During the two years of support for the project, we develop the module in such a way that it will also provide ample opportunity for international students to become involved in the community and to experience personal growth. By the same token, German participants will also benefit from the professional and personal exchange with their fellow students from abroad.

From the very start, the Volksbank Halle (Salle) eG has been an avid supporter of service learning activities at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. Due to its interest in service learning and reliable support, we have been able keep this special course offer going since its introduction.

The vice rectors for study and teaching as well as research and young academics, the Philosophical Faculty III (Educational Science) and the International Office of MLU initiate, promote and support service learning at Martin-Luther-University.

Along with Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, about a dozen additional universities are represented in the university network “Bildung durch Verantwortung” (Education through responsibility), which plays a decisive role in implementing and further developing service learning in Germany. The network provides a platform for professional exchange and the formulation of common interests and responsibilities.
